Fracture Font Launch

Ok, today I officially started working on a new font – Fraktur thingy with lots of ornaments. This is the first letter. I know, long way from being perfect. But just to give an idea which direction it's gonna be headin'.

Coco Rosie

Yesterday evening I went to see Coco Rosie in the big concert hall at Vega. We were a pretty big group this time around: Guilom, Dora, Manu, Gabo, Andrea, Leo, Johannes, Schwan, Dot plus a couple of others from school and Rebecca and Astrid from the apartment gang. Was quite nice to see a concert with so many people that you know.

We arrived a bit late, so we missed the opening act and got there just in time to see the two sisters from NY. The show itself was nice and ok, but to be honest I expected a bit more from an event I paid 250 DKK for (about 32€) and which I had awaited with great anticipation for over a month. And I wasn't alone – all the guys except Leo were disappointed. On the other hand all the girls except Andrea really enjoyed it. So I guess it must be a girls thing. Don't get me wrong, I must admit that I'm not a great fan and I think they actually sounded better live than on their album. But still, with all the hype that's been made and the 5-star reviews that they've been getting I had hoped for a little more than a relatively monotonous set – they didn't even play "Rainbowarrior" – and cheap visual effects in the background. At least for that kind of money. The best moment of the evening was the 3 minute solo of Tez, a french beatboxer that tours with the two girls and replaces the drum set in all their songs.

As the stupid security didn't let me take my camera inside ("You should've called Coco Rosie first and asked them if you could take pictures..." WTF?!) I could only take some pictures with Dot's cam, which didn't turn out that nice though. But therefore I was able to capture pieces of the concert on video, which was kinda cool. To see two more movies go to Daily Motion as I've uploaded them there and search for Coco Rosie, Vega.

My Cat

From my Danish lessons at school.

What it actually says is "I got my cat when I was 3 years old.". But I guess this only funny if you're german. And then only if your brain is still stuck in puberty like mine is...

Jakobínarína

Six angry upstart kids with lots of self-confidence ("All other bands we've heard so far are crap.") from Iceland called Jakobínarína tried to rock the beautiful Jazzhouse yesterday night. Problem was, due to bad tour management/advertising almost no one took notice of it. So these very talented 18 to 21-year olds (although the bass player looked like 14) playing an energetic indie-punk – and who are used to open for the Kaizer Chiefs – had to perform in front of a mini crowd of about 50 or 60 people. You could literally see the disappointment in their faces. They played down their setlist with the lead singer being the only one really trying to entertain by dancing freakishly the whole time. And after about 45 minutes the whole thing was over. It ended with the singer dropping the mic and leaving the stage extremely pissed off through the crowd and the rest of the band disappearing wordlessly backstage. Too bad. Because even though these final flashes of rock star allure and arrogance were quite unnecessary, they would still have deserved a bigger audience.

The guy I went to see them with, Kári – from my class and also from Icealnd, and a very cool guy at that – and I finished the night off with a long and pleasant talk about street art and the likes at the Bo Bi Bar, supposedly one of the oldest bars in Copenhagen.

White Men Can't Jump

Shootin' some hoops with an aussie guy, who saw me playing from the hostel across the bay and spontaneously dropped by. I got my ass whooped big time.
