Shit, that was good! Last night was by far the best party I've been to here in Oslo. It was nice to see that Norwegians actually can get down and dirty when the right premises are given. And Buraka Som Sistema did just that. Pumping, energetic, all out Kuduro sound from beginning to end – it was basically impossible not to freak out for one and a half hours straight. Best moments of the evening: getting 15 girls on the stage to 'represent' (hot) and one song sampling The Prodigy's 'Firestarter'. Not quite the most intense concert I've ever been to (that title is still held by a number of Ska and Punk concerts a couple of years back) but definitely among the top ranks.
Now I just need to find people to go to these gigs with me (boys, I miss you!). I'm getting kind of bored of always having to go by myself, but no one I've met so far seems to share my particular taste in music... But at least it felt like Bubba was there – had a 2m buff guy with white t-shirt, 5mm hair and un-shaved face dancing next to me all concert long :D
Unfortunately, my trusty little party cam had one too many hits last night, resulting in partial data loss. The pics and vids left on the memory card aren't really worth showing, so I'll just post Buraka's latest video, which gives a pretty good impression of their style. Just imagine that in a packed 10x12m club with temperatures around 35°C, much more bass and movement...
EDIT: Stian told me of a blog today that actually had quite a couple of nice shots from the concert. I put a couple of the together and dropped them here to look at. For more check Smuglesning.
I never really noticed, but we have a shitload of shoes at our flatshare. Altogether we must have something around a hundred pairs. Not bad for seven people...
I wish I could already show you guys the Bombay Sapphire posters and invitations I did and which arrived yesterday. But unfortunately the whole campaign doesn't launch before next Monday. And that means I can't put it up yet. I already took a couple of pictures today and got all excited until Annika – very rightfully so – pointed out to me that I might be heading for quite a shitload of trouble should anyone of relevance see those images be up on my blog before the official start.
I truly and utterly love this video. For obvious reasons: the high pitched man voices, the nice beat, the killer 'cause unconventional moves, the perfect cuts, the glowy thingies in the background and the dancers, which are as hot as it gets (Especially the black haired partner of that white dude who's doing all the singing). But first and foremost: it's so fucking stylish black and white!
Must've watched it 20 times in one go when it first came out. Dug it up today because Annika and I were talking about her first 'Reggae Dance' lessons and started passing around videos with nice choreos.
Whoopee! Today I went to my first ever official print start :D Now it's not like I haven't seen an offset print house from the inside before or that I haven't had personal projects produced professionally yet – I'm counting big scale digital print as professional – but it sure is a different feeling when it's your first real project coming fresh out of the press. Even more so, if you're the one who's saying 'Go' after reviewing the first test prints...
Nice service too: Beni, my project manager, and me got picked up by the guys from RK Grafisk, drove to the print place, had everything explained to us while watching the set up of the plates and then looked at the first results. Found a typo on the flyers, so they started with the posters first while we corrected the mistake. But hopefully by tomorrow afternoon everything will be done and ready for action. And typo-free.
